Speciation Analysis and Environment

Thermodynamic and spectroscopic study of the binding of dimethyltin(IV) by citrate at 25 °C (p 425-435)

DOI: 10.1002/aoc.1076

The interaction between dimethyltin(IV) cation and citrate was studied by potentiometric and calorimetric measurements. Overall thermodynamic parameters obtained show that the main contribution to stability is entropic in nature. Two empirical relationships were derived from thermodynamic formation parameters. Spectroscopic (NMR and Mössbauer) results fully confirm the speciation model defined potentiometrically.

Novel nickel (II) complexes chelating beta-diketiminate ligands: synthesis and simultaneous polymerization and oligomerization of ethylene (p 436-442)
Yongfei Li, Lingyun Wang, Haiyang Gao, Fangming Zhu, Qing Wu
Published Online: Jun 14 2006 4:07AM
DOI: 10.1002/aoc.1097

Novel nickel (II) complexes bearing -diketiminate ligands were synthesized and studied for ethylene reaction. The complexes exhibit characteristics of simultaneous polymerization and oligomerization of ethylene when activated by MAO. It was found the reaction temperature has a pronounced effect on ethylene reaction.

The transformation of complex silylated polyynes into organometallic-substituted alkenes by 1,1-organoboration, using 1-boraadamantane, is shown for the example of 1,1-Dibromo-2,2-bis(trimethylsilylethynyl)ethene. A triene is formed stereoselectively which was characterised by one- and two-dimensional 1H, 11B, 13C and 29Si NMR spectroscopy in solution and X-ray structural analysis in the solid state.

Reaction of dithioacid (ArCS2CH2CO2H, Ar = phenyl, 2-furyl or 2-thienyl) with nBu2SnO gives monomeric (ArCS2CH2CO2)2Sn(Bun)2 in a 2:1 molar ratio, and dimeric {[(ArCS2CH2CO2)Sn(Bun)2]2O}2 in a 1:1 molar ratio, respectively.

5-Trimethylsilylderivatives of 2-acetyl-thio-phene and -furan have been regioselectively prepared using a one-pot procedure from the corresponding 2-acetylfuran or 2-acetylthiophene using lithium N-methyl-piperazide-butyllithium-trimethylchloro-silane/-water as the sequence of reagents. Theetones obtained were converted to the corresponding oximes. The structure of 2-acetyl-5-trimethylsilylthiophene oxime (E-isomer) has been studied by X-ray. Formation of centro-symmetric dimers by means of H-bonds has been observed. The intermolecular hydrogen bond O9H·N8 is 2.842(5) Å.

Synthesis, characterization and in vitro cytotoxic effects of new organotin(IV)-2-maleimidopropanoates (p 463-470)

Published Online: Jun 19 2006 10:31AM
DOI: 10.1002/aoc.1083

Synthesis and spectral analysis (solid FT IR, 119mSn Mössbauer; solution 1H, 13C and 119Sn NMR) of five new diorganotin(IV) complexes of 2-maleimidopropanoic acid is reported; the spectral data proved the hexa-coordination of Sn(IV) in octahedral arrangement. During the in vitro cytotoxicity assays against seven human tumoural cell lines, five leishmanial strains and nine human pathogenic fungi, the title complexes displayed significant activities. The covalent attachments of organotin(IV) moieties (R) and the ligand played an important role in determining cytotoxic behaviours.
